Lewis Hamilton spoke about his move to Ferrari, starting in 2025, in the new book Inside Mercedes F1.
Lewis Hamilton has discussed his move to Ferrari again. Or rather, for the first time in a quite detailed way, in the book Inside Mercedes F1, explaining the reasons that led him to support the Ferrari project for the 2025 season.
A historic moment, the announcement of Lewis Hamilton joining Ferrari, for Formula 1 and beyond. The seven-time world champion will be a driver for the Scuderia starting January 1, 2025, and, most likely, will close his career with the Maranello team.
A childhood dream for a motorsport-loving kid, as the British driver explained in the book Inside Mercedes F1.These are his words: “I feel like I’m ending a relationship that’s going great. We’re still in love. I haven’t lost faith in the team, I’m leaving just for myself. It’s been a childhood dream. I think it’s probably the same for every kid who loves motorsport, you know? Driving the red car.”
The English driver continued: “The fact is that I’m moving toward the end of my career, I only have a few years left, so I started thinking about how I would feel looking back on all of this. I asked myself whether I’d truly be happy if I stayed with the team rather than experience something different.”
Hamilton’s decision was not an easy one, but it was driven by that dream and the determination that has never left him: “I thought about it a lot over the winter. It was a tough period. After all, I’ve had an incredible experience here. It’s been a great privilege, and I really enjoy working with everyone. I also know that moving is a huge risk, but I love risk. In the end, I couldn’t get it out of my head. I have to give it a try.”
