For the moment, Bearman will drive only in FP1 and the Sprint Qualifying, pending updates on Magnussen’s condition.
Just under an hour and a half before FP1 begins, a sensational piece of news arrives in the paddock: Kevin Magnussen will not take part in Friday’s track sessions for the Brazilian Grand Prix. In his place, Ollie Bearman will step in, pending updates on the Danish driver’s condition.
The young English driver, ahead of his full-time debut in 2025, will once again get behind the wheel of a Formula 1 car in official sessions after participating in the Jeddah Grand Prix, driving the Ferrari in place of Carlos Sainz, who was sidelined with appendicitis, and in Baku, driving for Haas, where he replaced Kevin Magnussen, who was disqualified on that occasion.
Here is the official statement, released just a few minutes ago: “MoneyGram Haas F1 Team driver Kevin Magnussen will not participate in Friday’s track running at the São Paulo Grand Prix after suffering with sickness. Official reserve driver Oliver Bearman will take over driving duties. The team wishes Kevin a quick recovery and will provide a further update in due course.“
