The new adventure of former Williams Racing driver could be in IndyCar: here’s where and when Logan Sargeant will return to the track.
In August of this year, during the week of the Italian Grand Prix, news broke of the early dismissal of American driver Logan Sargeant, who was replaced by Argentine Franco Colapinto. However, a small step back is needed: even before the official farewell of the former Williams driver, speculation was already circulating that Logan Sargeant would not continue his journey in Formula 1 and that he would likely join the IndyCar championship with the PREMA team, which will enter the IndyCar Series starting in 2025.
Now, for the 23-year-old from Fort Lauderdale, a concrete opportunity has arisen to return to the motorsport world by participating in a test for the IndyCar Series with Meyer Shank Racing. This will give the American driver the chance to take his first test in one of the Dallara DW12 cars with a Honda engine at the Thermal Club in Thermal, a road course measuring 3.067 miles with 17 corners, on November 19, as confirmed by RACER and the team itself via social media.
During the test at the American circuit, the partnership between MSR and the reigning series champions Chip Ganassi Racing will also debut. Ganassi will provide the Michael Shank team with shock absorbers, chassis configurations, and engineering personnel. However, MSR and Ganassi cannot offer Sargeant a seat in their cars for the upcoming season, which starts on March 2 in St. Petersburg. Nonetheless, for the former Williams driver, this test is certainly an important opportunity to showcase his skills to potential teams interested in assessing his potential in the American category, including PREMA.
