The German team confirms the duo that led to winning its first Drivers’ Championship in Formula E with Pascal Wehrlein.
Another official announcement ahead of Season 11 of Formula E, the debut season for the new GEN 3 Evo cars: reigning World Champion Pascal Wehrlein and Antonio Felix Da Costa will race again for the Porsche team, with the task of also winning the first Constructors’ Championship against rival Jaguar.
On one hand, Pascal Wehrlein’s confirmation was expected, especially after winning the Drivers’ Championship in London. On the other hand, Antonio Felix Da Costa was at risk of being sidelined for 2025: indeed, a poor start to the season led to some reconsiderations within Porsche. As we reported in April, ABT Cupra driver Nico Mueller had tested the black-and-white car at the Almeria circuit, with the possibility of a replacement during the season.
However, the Portuguese driver did a great job of reversing the negative trend from the early races towards the end of the season. He managed to secure 4 victories in the 5 races leading up to the final round in London, even coming back into mathematical contention for the Drivers’ Championship, just 33 points behind the leader at that time, Nick Cassidy. Therefore, Porsche confirmed Da Costa for the official team and decided to hire Nico Mueller, but assigned him to the Andretti team, which will be equipped with the German powertrain.
