Here are the weather forecasts and F1 schedules in Azerbaijan: after Monza, another circuit with long straights awaits
After the last Grand Prix in Monza, it’s time for Formula 1 to pack up and head to Baku, the scene of Charles Leclerc’s stunning pole position last year, although the race was won by Sergio Perez, marking his last victory to date.
The Baku Circuit: Where History Meets Speed
The Baku Circuit, officially known as the Baku City Circuit, is one of the most spectacular and technically challenging tracks on the calendar. Located in the capital of Azerbaijan, the circuit was inaugurated in 2016 and stretches 6.003 kilometers along the streets of Baku’s old town. One of the circuit’s unique features is the famous section that runs alongside the ancient city walls, where the track narrows to become one of the tightest on the calendar. Additionally, it features a long straight along the waterfront, allowing cars to reach top speeds of over 360 km/h.
The layout of the Baku City Circuit combines technical corners and fast sections, offering numerous overtaking opportunities but also a high risk of incidents. The corners 8, 9, and 10, known as “the castle section” (where Leclerc crashed during qualifying in 2019), are particularly iconic and difficult to navigate, while the final straight, about 2.2 kilometers long, makes overtaking much easier with DRS.
