Great news for Italy: it’s now official that Leonardo Fornaroli will move to F2, with the Piacenza-born driver set to race for Invicta Racing.
Not only has he won the Formula 3 World Championship, but Leonardo Fornaroli’s dream days aren’t over yet. The Italian driver is now celebrating his move to Formula 2. It’s official that he’ll join Invicta Racing for the 2025 season. The team, currently composed of Maini and Bortoleto, will welcome an Italian driver for the first time since 2019, when Luca Ghiotto secured a 3rd place finish in the drivers’ championship.
Fornaroli commented on his official move: “I’m so happy to be able to celebrate winning the F3 championship with this news, and I cannot wait to step up to Formula 2 next season,” Fornaroli said. “Invicta Racing has proven itself over many years to be one of the best teams in Formula 2, including this season. I’m really excited to work with the team for the 2025 season.“
Fornaroli continued: “I want to take this opportunity to thank Trident for the past three years; they really are the best team in F3. To go from the best team in F3 to the best in F2 is truly a dream come true.”
Andy Roche, Team Principal of Invicta Racing, added: “We’re absolutely delighted to welcome Leonardo to the team for 2025. Winning the FIA Formula 3 Championship is an incredible achievement for him, and I have no doubt that he’ll do a brilliant job in 2025. We’ve followed Leonardo’s single-seater career for a few years now, and it’s clear that he’s an outstanding talent. Following in Gabriel’s footsteps this year, we’re thrilled to have the FIA Formula 3 Champion join our team for the second year in a row.”
