The results of the Feature F3 at Monza: Sami Meguetounif wins the race, but Fornaroli clinches the championship at the last corner!
An extraordinary Formula 3 World Championship comes to an end with a thrilling finale. After yesterday’s Sprint Race, marked by numerous penalties, it was time for the final Feature Race of the year at Fornaroli and Mini’s home circuit. Sami Meguetounif took the victory in the Grand Prix, but the Temple of Speed witnessed an extraordinary and dramatic world title win for Leonardo Fornaroli, clinched at the very last corner!
Race Summary
THE START – Fornaroli got off to a great start and held the lead! Minì stayed in 3rd, while Browning dropped to 11th. However, Dunne had an even better start, taking the lead by the end of the first lap, while Meguetounif overtook Minì.
The first dramatic twist of the race happened on lap 4: championship rival Luke Browning made a mistake entering the Variante Ascari and spun out! The Safety Car was deployed, and Browning’s championship hopes were effectively over. The tension was high, and mistakes were made by all the title contenders, including Fornaroli and Minì, making the championship battle even more thrilling.
By the midpoint, Fornaroli and Minì were running 4th and 5th, with the title fight now a showdown between the two Italians. The fear of a mistake that could cost the championship loomed large. On lap 19, both managed to overtake Christian Mansell with a brilliant move by the Sicilian Minì at the Variante Ascari.
The battle for the championship came down to the wire, with Meguetounif cruising to victory ahead. Minì was poised to become champion until the final corner, but Fornaroli’s decisive pass on Mansell at the Parabolica on the last lap secured his world championship!
