The Formula 2 grid continues to see unexpected changes. AIX Racing has announced that Koolen will join the team, replacing Taylor Barnard
In a surprising turn of events, the Formula 2 grid continues to evolve. After Oliver Goethe’s promotion, following Franco Colapinto’s move to replace Logan Sargeant in Formula 1 (leaving MP Motorsport without a driver), AIX Racing has announced that Taylor Barnard will no longer drive for the German team.
In his place, Dutch driver Niels Koolen, who comes from the American Indy NXT Series, the junior category of IndyCar, has been selected for the Monza and Baku races.
Koolen shared his thoughts: “I am very happy with the opportunity from AIX Racing to participate in Formula 2 at Monza and Baku,” said the AIX Racing driver. “A few years ago, I had the dream to get into Formula racing. Since then, I have been training constantly to prepare myself for this step. I want to thank all the people who supported me on this journey, and I look forward to my first Formula 2 race.”
