It was the worst-kept secret, and now it’s official: in 2025, Fermin Aldeguer will join Gresini Racing, taking over the seat currently occupied by Marc Marquez.
There weren’t many doubts, as it was the only seat left in Ducati, but now it’s officially confirmed: Fermin Aldeguer, the young 2005-born Moto2 star, will ride for Ducati Gresini in the 2025 season. He will be alongside Alex Marquez, who recently renewed his contract with the Faenza-based team, while Marc Marquez will leave the team to join Ducati Factory.
Here’s what Fermin Aldeguer said about the move in a MotoGP interview: “I’m extremely happy to join the Gresini family; this is an incredible opportunity to make my MotoGP debut on the best bike on the grid and with a fantastic team that has had many iconic riders. I hope to get comfortable quickly with the GP24: we will tackle everything step by step, but I’m already looking forward to the first test of the new season in Valencia. I want to thank Nadia and Gigi for their trust, which will be repaid.”
Nadia Padovani, Team Owner of Gresini Racing, followed up: “The family spirit is the concept on which our team is based, and it applies to our entire history in the world championship. It is a great pleasure for us to welcome one of the most promising young talents in the series, and our goal will be to protect him and help him achieve the results that define us. He will be with us for the next two seasons, and Ducati will remain in our garage at least until 2026. We are doubly happy, so welcome to the team, Fermín!”
Lastly, Luigi Dall’Igna, General Manager of Ducati Corse, shared his thoughts: “We are very pleased to extend our collaboration with the Gresini family until 2026. The team led by Nadia Padovani has achieved great milestones in recent years, demonstrating its strength and professionalism. The Gresini Racing Team has also brought several riders – some very young – to victory. For this reason, we are confident that this is the ideal team to welcome Fermín Aldeguer and accompany him in his debut MotoGP season.
