Abstract design and a nod to speed: let’s discover “VROOOM,” the new trophy for the Italian GP
Its name is “VROOOM”, created in collaboration with Pirelli, the title sponsor of the Tricolore race. This tradition began in 2021, where an artist is commissioned to create the cup awarded on the podium to the three fastest drivers in the race and the representative member of the winning constructor.
The name of the trophy reflects its roots: “VROOOM” features abstract shapes and pays homage to Pirelli’s rich history in tires through the idea of speed and acceleration. This concept perfectly aligns with the Temple of Speed, the long-standing home of the Italian Grand Prix. The trophy is made of a chrome aluminum base, with a prominent part in Valchromat (a wood fiber panel).
The artist commissioned for this project is Andrea Sala, a modern art specialist: “The conception of the trophy is the result of several visits to the Pirelli world. The name VROOOM expresses what I want to narrate: the idea of Formula 1 I’ve had since childhood—the cars lined up on the grid, the moment of the start, the lights going out, and the dash to the first corner. The trophy transforms these moments into a material object.”
“VROOOM” will be unveiled during the Pirelli Tyres Talk, a press-exclusive event on Friday, August 30th, before FP1. In addition to the trophy, Podium Caps, already seen in Miami, Montreal, and Silverstone, will be featured on the podium in a special edition characterized by the Italian tricolor.
