At Monza, we might witness the surprising appearance of Mick Schumacher in a Williams car, as Logan Sargeant is at serious risk of being replaced! Liam Lawson is also among the candidates

An incredible twist is shaking up Formula 1: we might see new drivers on the grid at Monza, as reported by Erik Van Haren. And no, it’s not just about Kimi Antonelli: the Italian driver, who turns 18 today, will be in Lewis Hamilton’s Mercedes W15, but only for FP1.

Logan Sargeant, following his severe crash yesterday, is reportedly at serious risk of being replaced as early as the end of this weekend. The ongoing incidents, combined with a Formula 1 career that has so far yielded only a single points finish in a year and a half, have put his position in jeopardy.

James Vowles, the team principal, is said to be considering all options on the table, with Mick Schumacher currently the leading candidate. Schumacher, who has been out of a seat since leaving Haas at the end of 2022, is on Audi’s radar and could unexpectedly find himself back in Formula 1, leaving behind his current commitment in WEC with Alpine.

Vowles’ decision aims to close the performance gap between the second driver and Alexander Albon, in an effort to make a desperate push for eighth place, which is currently held by Alpine. This position comes with significant financial incentives, as millions of euros are at stake in the Constructors’ Championship.

Not only Schumacher: Lawson is also on the shortlist

In addition to Mick Schumacher, James Vowles is reportedly considering a loan deal for Liam Lawson until the end of the season. The Williams team is already well-positioned for 2025, with Carlos Sainz expected to join.
