Lando Norris topped the FP1 session in the Netherlands, followed by Max Verstappen and Lewis Hamilton. Ferrari struggled once again
After the summer break, Formula 1 is back on track for the Dutch Grand Prix weekend. Following yesterday’s buzz, notably Max Verstappen’s statement that he’s “past the halfway point of his career”, it was time for the world’s 20 fastest drivers to hit the track at the home circuit of the three-time world champion, who currently leads the F1 drivers’ standings.
The first part of the session saw limited track activity due to rain and wind, which impacted the FP1 session, especially in the first 40 minutes. Once the soft tires were fitted, Lando Norris clocked the fastest time with a lap of 1:12.322, once again showcasing the strength of his MCL38.
He was followed by Max Verstappen, Lewis Hamilton, Carlos Sainz, and George Russell, all within seven-tenths of each other. It was a good session for Mercedes, with five Brackley-powered engines in the top seven.
Alexander Albon had a strong session, finishing sixth, while Nico Hulkenberg and Kevin Magnussen placed eighth and ninth with their Haas cars. Charles Leclerc finished 14th, while Robert Shwartzman ended up 16th.
