Yuki Tsunoda was refreshingly candid during his press conference at Zandvoort: “I did the things a young guy my age would usually do”
Focused, yes, but Yuki Tsunoda also made time for fun. After one of the most intense first halves of a Formula 1 season, with 14 races already completed before summer, many drivers took some well-deserved time for themselves before arriving at Zandvoort, the 15th race weekend of the year.
Yuki Tsunoda’s Words
Tsunoda spoke candidly in the press conference: “I had a lot of fun during this summer break. I was in Japan, and since my family often follows me to my races, I spent time with friends I don’t see much during the year. I missed that time you want to spend with your friends—those years between 18 and 22 in summer are some of the best, and I haven’t been able to enjoy them much…”
“Then I returned to Italy to get back into shape and, in fact, to be even better prepared for the second half of the season. Especially because I drank quite a bit… Yes, it was fun. There were things I wanted to do… like drinking Red Bull! (laughs).”
Tsunoda: “A Challenging Second Half. Red Bull? I Always Work the Same Way”
“It was a positive first half, with seven points finishes. The last few races were a bit complicated because others managed to develop their cars quite well and quickly gained ground. The midfield battle is tight, but we responded well in the last three races. I think we’ll have a tougher second half, but we have a good team, and we need to keep aiming for sixth in the constructors’ standings.”
“Future with Red Bull? It’s a bit like what’s happened in the past few years—you always want to show your value to other teams. There’s often a lot of speculation on this subject, but I continue to work the same way and at the same level, also because the situation is not under my control, and I have to do the best I can”, Tsunoda concluded.
