Isotta Fraschini Exits WEC: Differences Between the Milanese Manufacturer and Team Duqueine Lead to an Early Conclusion of the 2024 Season
In a surprising turn of events, Isotta Fraschini has withdrawn from the WEC with immediate effect. The #11 crew will not participate in the upcoming Lone Star Le Mans next week: despite the car being en route to the Austin circuit, Team Duqueine will not be managing any vehicles.
The split between Isotta Fraschini and Team Duqueine comes after the failure to honor previously agreed terms. Isotta Fraschini has decided to end the debut season of its prototype early, likely due to dissatisfaction with Duqueine’s conduct.
First with Vector, Now with Duqueine
This isn’t the first time Isotta Fraschini has experienced a breakup. Last November, when it was widely believed that Vector would manage the Tipo 6 cars, an unexpected split occurred due to Isotta Fraschini’s inability to field two cars. Now, the tables have turned, with Isotta Fraschini opting to part ways with Team Duqueine, citing the latter’s failure to adhere to the agreed-upon terms.
What Happened?
According to current reports, the separation stems from disagreements between the French team and the Italian manufacturer. The French team did not conduct any testing and failed to contribute to advancing the LMH project, with all efforts coming solely from Michelotto Engineering. The matter is expected to move to court; in the meantime, Isotta Fraschini has announced that their WEC season ends here. The company expressed gratitude to fans, sponsors, and drivers for their immense support, and is hopeful for a return to the grid next year.
