New Twist in F1: New Negotiations Opening to Bring Adrian Newey to Alpine!
A new twist in Formula 1 has emerged, as talks are now underway to bring Adrian Newey to Alpine. The latest developments suggest that Newey, who seemed poised for a move to Aston Martin, may be heading in a different direction. While Ferrari appears to be slightly less involved at the moment, Alpine is making a serious play for the legendary ex-Red Bull designer.
After a few weeks of relatively quiet rumors in the Formula 1 world, partly due to the summer break allowing drivers and teams to rest and recharge after a demanding first half of the season, it’s time to get back on track at Zandvoort. However, it seems the break wasn’t taken “literally” at Enstone. According to F1-Insider, negotiations have begun to bring Adrian Newey to Alpine.
Sources close to the paddock have revealed that Luca di Meo, CEO of Renault, and the new strategic advisor Flavio Briatore have made direct contact with Newey. Alpine’s executives have reportedly promised the experienced British engineer everything necessary to steer the team back to success. The offer from Alpine is said to go beyond mere financial incentives, providing unprecedented operational freedom in all technical decisions—an aspect that is particularly appealing to Newey.
Newey-Renault: A Proven Winning Partnership
Newey and Alpine have had indirect collaborations in the past. The French team is the sporting arm of Renault, the automaker that supplied engines to both Williams and Red Bull, helping Newey secure a total of 15 World Championships in both drivers’ and constructors’ categories.
Finally, the team’s location could be another persuasive factor for Newey. Enstone is just a two-hour drive from London, allowing the British engineer to remain close to his home country. Meanwhile, the engine factory is located in Paris, a destination that, according to reports, might also appeal to Newey’s wife, Amanda.
