British rider Jake Dixon leaves Aspar: no MotoGP for him yet, as he will remain in Moto2 with Marc VDS
Jake Dixon, who raced two MotoGP rounds in 2021, finishing 19th at Silverstone and retiring in Aragon, seemed poised for a temporary stint in the premier class before a future full-time move. However, Jake Dixon will remain in Moto2 in 2025. The British rider, who recently claimed victory at the British Grand Prix, will be switching teams from Aspar to Marc VDS, one of the most sought-after teams in the intermediate category.
Aspar’s farewell to Dixon
“Jake, it’s time to say goodbye (or maybe ‘see you soon,’ who knows!). We have walked a long path together since your very first World Championship season in 2019. We bet on a rider who didn’t come from the traditional route, and you will agree with us: the bet has paid off. You came to a team, but together we have built a TEAM.
Assen has a special place in our story together. There, we got to the points for the first time, in 2019, and there you made history for the team with your first World Championship win. But we can’t just stop there. Three wins and fifteen podiums don’t even tell what we have lived together. There have been bad moments and there have been worse moments, but we have stayed together and rebuilt from there to have Sundays like the one we lived at Silverstone.
We still feel the goosebumps when we think of Silverstone. Do you know what? We were calmed in the garage. We felt you would do it, we could see it coming. What we couldn’t see coming was you when we were at the parc fermé. But then we heard the WHOLE grandstand cheering and there you were, ecstatic, enjoying the moment and the support of all the fans.
We are in the form of our lifes, three consecutive podiums already, and we have nine more challenges ahead of us before we separate our ways. Let’s make them count, Jake!“
Dixon: “I feel ready for a new challenge”
This is how Jake Dixon addressed his new team, Marc VDS: “Firstly, I want to say a huge thanks to Marc for giving me the opportunity to ride for such a fantastic team. They have been at the top in Moto2 for so long and have won three titles, and all I can say is that it’s an absolute pleasure to be joining Marc VDS Racing next season. I feel ready for a new challenge and a new adventure, and moving to this team gives me so much motivation. I really can’t wait to get started next year, and I’m excited to bring even more success to the team.”
