MotoGP Pre-Qualifying Results in Austria: Pecco Bagnaia leads the pack, followed by Morbidelli and Martin.
It’s time for the first crucial moments in MotoGP: after this morning’s FP1, where Jorge Martin topped the timesheets and Pol Espargarò surprised with a 3rd place, the world’s fastest riders hit the track to secure one of the 10 coveted spots in Q2. Leading the way is a phenomenal Pecco Bagnaia, who set a new lap record at Spielberg with a time of 1.28.508.
Bagnaia was on fire this Friday: for several weekends now, the Italian rider has shown incredible pace right from the first lap, something that he struggled with just a few weeks ago, often waiting until Saturday morning to surprise everyone.
Behind him are the two Pramac riders, with a superb Franco Morbidelli in 2nd and Jorge Martin in 3rd. They are followed by Marc Marquez and Brad Binder. The top-10 qualifiers are rounded out by Alex Marquez, Aleix Espargarò, Maverick Vinales, Marco Bezzecchi, and Enea Bastianini.
Many Crashes in Austria: Acosta Already at 3
Another crash in Turn 8 for Pedro Acosta, marking his third of the weekend. After a heavy crash this morning, the Spanish rider went down again in Turn 8, wrecking his GasGas’s fairing, likely due to an unstable hard front tire. In general, it was a session full of falls: from Bezzecchi to Pol Espargarò, from Di Giannantonio (injured shoulder) to Bastianini at the end, there was no shortage of drama during this session.
