Ferrari, Marco Scourtis Leaves Maranello: Here’s Where the Engineer is Headed

by Stefano Zambroni

Marco Scourtis is leaving Scuderia Ferrari, but the Italian engineer already has a new challenge lined up in Formula 1

It’s certainly not an easy time at Maranello; with the summer break in full swing and the intense heat, the reshuffling of key personnel continues at the home of the Prancing Horse, particularly in the Formula 1 department. Today brings news of another departure from the red ranks: this time, it’s Marco Scourtis, a materials engineer, who can now be considered an ex-Ferrari employee.

Scourtis has spent the last seven years of his career at Ferrari, but he has been enticed by a new challenge within the Formula 1 world. Audi has secured his expertise, much like they did recently with Mattia Binotto, former Ferrari team principal from 2019 to 2022, and Jonathan Wheatley, a key figure at Red Bull.

These high-profile names are already helping to shape the structure of the Neuburg-based team for 2026, the year Audi officially enters Formula 1. Recent news also confirms an agreement between Audi and Adidas for technical sponsorship, following the trend set by Mercedes just days ago.

Ferrari, Awaiting the “Five-Letter Name”

Besides Scourtis, Ferrari also faces the significant departure of Enrico Cardile. In response, Vasseur has announced that he will soon establish a new technical direction at Ferrari, with a five-letter name ready to be unveiled. We now await the official statement from the man from Draveil, though it’s clear that this five-letter name will not be Adrian Newey.
