The highlights of Marco Bezzecchi’s interview on Mig Babol, the podcast by former Moto3 rider Andrea Migno: from his 2024 difficulties to Aprilia, with mentions of Bagnaia, Misano, and Martin
It’s not an easy year for Marco Bezzecchi, as he has admitted several times. The Romagna rider is currently 11th in the MotoGP world championship standings, grappling with significant difficulties adapting to the GP23 and the new Michelin tires. The number 72 rider was recently a guest on the “Mig Babol” podcast, hosted by Andrea Migno and Filippo Carloni, where he discussed key aspects of his current period and career.
Marco Bezzecchi’s interview at Mig Babol
Here are the highlights of his interview: “The difficulties in 2024? Unfortunately, apart from Jerez, I’ve struggled a lot. I’ve had a hard time with the change in Michelin tires, which, combined with the new bike, has made it more difficult for me to adapt, and even today, I sometimes struggle a lot. The 3rd place at Jerez was the result of an almost perfect race, whereas in other Grands Prix, I can’t perform as one with the bike”..
Then, a comment on Aprilia, Bezzecchi’s new home starting in 2025: “All MotoGP riders dream of having a factory bike, so it’s nice to feel like the face of Aprilia. There was interest from both sides, and I’m very curious, even though there’s still a lot to do with Ducati. My goal has always been to have a factory bike; I would have loved to continue with the Desmosedici, but unfortunately, it wasn’t possible, and we couldn’t reach an agreement”.
He also commented on Pecco Bagnaia, his close friend: “With him, everything is very natural; it’s an unusual rivalry since we spend a lot of time together. It’s definitely tough, but there’s fair play: in our differences, we’re similar. Pecco, however, is much more composed than I am; he didn’t have a rebellious phase in his teenage years… he’s a gentleman, there’s no other way to describe him: he’s polite, mature, intelligent, and obviously very strong. A rivalry with him is always exciting.”
Bezzecchi: “With Martin, a professional relationship; Misano is a double-edged sword”
Regarding Martin: “We’ve known each other for a long time; he moved up to MotoGP a year before me. Jorge is very intelligent: we don’t have a friendship, but a professional relationship. I think he’s someone who, when you get to know him, gives you more than he seems to at first. I don’t know if my opinion of him is influenced by our rivalry; I see him for half an hour twice a weekend… but he’s very strong, and I hope to learn a lot from him”..
Finally, a comment on the upcoming Misano weekend in a month: “It feels strange because it’s only 10 minutes from my house. It’s an incredible event, in Romagna, there’s an enormous passion; the fans are always super excited in a positive way, and it’s fantastic. However, there’s always a lot of pressure; it gives you a great boost, but it can always be a double-edged sword”, he ended.
