MotoGP market news: Ai Ogura is reportedly set to join Aprilia Trackhouse for the next season, alongside Raul Fernandez.
The MotoGP 2025 market continues to evolve: a series of shocks have indeed revolutionized the next season of the championship, with Marc Marquez heading to Ducati and the current world leader Jorge Martin ready to move to Aprilia at the end of this season, risking leaving the Desmosedici as the reigning world champion.
Not least, the now certain transfer of Miguel Oliveira to Yamaha Pramac frees up a spot in Trackhouse, the only American team on the grid powered by Aprilia. And so, the speculation on names began, though it likely didn’t last long: according to Sky Sport, Davide Brivio and the American ownership have chosen Ai Ogura, born in 2001 and currently in Moto2.
Ogura, who currently boasts 2 season victories (Assen and Barcelona), thus has the huge opportunity to land in the top-tier MotoGP, but not before competing for the Moto2 title: at the moment, the Japanese rider is second in the standings, just 18 points behind leader Sergio Garcia.
LCR, Farewell to Nakagami? And Diggia Moves to Ducati
For one Japanese rider entering, another might leave: this could be the case for Takaaki Nakagami, in MotoGP since 2018, who might leave Lucio Cecchinello’s team after disappointing results in recent years. The favorite to replace him is Thai rider Somkiat Chantra: currently 11th in the Moto2 standings, he is the number one candidate to become Johann Zarco’s teammate in 2025.
Finally, the news of the day is certainly the confirmation of an official Desmosedici for Fabio Di Giannantonio: a news that was already in the air but became official just a few hours ago.
