Bearman hopes Antonelli joins him in F1: “It would be a dream to compete for the title together”
Ollie Bearman is certain that his F2 teammate, Kimi Antonelli, born in 2006, “deserves” a spot in F1 alongside him next year. The two are regarded as perhaps the best talents in global motorsport. Although this season has not been their best so far, it is clear that Bearman and Antonelli will be key figures in the future of F1.
Bearman, recently announced as a full-time Haas driver for 2025, has been part of the Ferrari driver program since 2021. His impressive debut in Jeddah, where he finished 7th in place of Carlos Sainz, has likely earned him a spot in Formula 1 for the upcoming season. In contrast, Kimi Antonelli, who has been with the Mercedes Academy from a very young age, continues his promising career.
Bearman: “A Dream to Compete with Kimi”
Discussing Antonelli’s prospects with Sky Sports F1, Bearman said: “We have always followed similar paths and have risen almost simultaneously. I have known Kimi for a long time; we raced a bit in F4, a lot in the simulators, and now we are teammates in F2. I hope he can make it to F1 too because he deserves it. One day I hope to compete for a world championship with him because I believe that is the trajectory we are both on.”.
Bearman also commented on Ferrari, his motorsport home: “Ferrari is one of the most iconic brands in the world, synonymous with racing, victories, and success. Debuting with them was very special for me. I dream of winning world championships with Ferrari, which has supported me since 2021”,, he ended.
Although the focus is on 2025, 2024 is proving challenging for both drivers: Antonelli is currently 7th in the F2 standings, while Bearman, having missed the event in Saudi Arabia, is 15th. However, both have achieved victories this season: Bearman celebrated in Austria, while Kimi has secured two consecutive wins at Silverstone and Hungaroring.
