Diego Tondi is the new head of aerodynamics at Ferrari. The new role was officially announced by the engineer himself on LinkedIn.
With Enrico Cardile’s departure to Aston Martin, it is imperative for Fred Vasseur to reorganize the team to restore Ferrari to its former glory. However, the Team Principal of Ferrari had announced that the new positions would be revealed in September, after the Italian Grand Prix.
Instead, the first role has already been announced by Diego Tondi himself, who, through a post on the social network LinkedIn, revealed his promotion to Head of Aerodynamics within the Maranello team.
Who is Diego Tondi, the new Head of Aerodynamics at Ferrari?
The relationship between Tondi and Scuderia Ferrari is like a long-standing marriage that began in October 2007, when he took on his first role within the road car department, utilizing CFD (Computational Fluid Dynamics) simulation and the wind tunnel. The following year, the engineer from Galatina transitioned to working with the Formula 1 team as a wind tunnel test engineer, a role he held for 2 years before becoming the team leader for the 18 people developing the front end of the car. In March 2023, he replaced David Sanchez and became the key figure overseeing the entire aerodynamics of the car.
