Once again, the Mexican driver has been eliminated in the first session: here is Perez’s terrible qualifying performance over the last 7 races.
Once again a disaster, once again out in Q1: Sergio Perez is at serious risk of losing his seat at Red Bull, now officially under discussion both for the next season and for the upcoming races. Helmut Marko had already hinted at it: the Mexican driver should not feel secure about staying alongside Max Verstappen for long, especially considering his unfortunate trend, which currently makes him the most costly driver of 2024 in the damage ranking.
And today’s qualifying incident can only increase this number, estimated to be over three million dollars: Perez is costing the Milton Keynes team a lot of money, which will certainly (due to the budget cap) have to forgo developments and updates after this latest incident.
Perez’s horror in qualifying: 4 out of 7 out in Q1!
Perez’s qualifying performance over the last 7 races has been embarrassing:
🇮🇹 – P11
🇲🇨 – P16
🇨🇦 – P16
🇪🇸 – P8
🇦🇹 – P8
🇬🇧 – Accident in Q1, P19
🇭🇺 – Accident in Q1, P16
As mentioned, this trend is shocking: Perez has had more Q1 eliminations than Q2 advancements in the last 7 races, with his seat now likely to be replaced by one of Tsunoda, Lawson, or Ricciardo.
