The results of F2 qualifying in Hungary: pole position goes to Paul Aron, followed by Fittipaldi and Hadjar. Only 14th place for Bearman
After the surprising pole by Van Hoepen in the Formula 3 qualifying, it was time for Formula 2 to take to the track: Paul Aron set the fastest time, securing 2 points for the championship standings with a lap time of 1:30.028. No one else managed to break the 1:30 barrier, with the closest being the Estonian driver, who is in a title fight with Isack Hadjar.
Behind Aron, Enzo Fittipaldi finished just 68 thousandths behind, followed by the leader Isack Hadjar, Bortoleto, and Martins. Andrea Kimi Antonelli secured an excellent seventh place, especially considering Ollie Bearman only managed 14th.
The only dramatic moment came 19 minutes before the end, when the session was interrupted: Pepe Martì made a mistake in the second sector, causing a red flag and forcing all drivers to return to the pits. The Red Bull academy driver was furious with himself, marking yet another mistake in a season of highs and lows for him in 2024.
This is the top-10:
- Aron
- Fittipaldi
- Hadjar
- Bortoleto
- Martins
- Hauger
- Antonelli
- Maloney
- Maini
- Verschoor
