The results of the first FP1 in Hungary: in Budapest, the fastest is Carlos Sainz, followed by Verstappen and Leclerc. No bouncing for the SF-24
After a week-long break in Formula 1, it’s time to focus on the track: arriving in Hungary (here WEATHER and SCHEDULES for the weekend), the Red is ready to battle everyone with a great start to the weekend. Leading the pack is the SF-24 number 55 of Carlos Sainz, with a time of 1:18.713 on soft tires: engine mappings and fuel loads are still unknown, but this Ferrari looks to be in great shape.
Behind him are Max Verstappen and Charles Leclerc: the two, respectively 276 and 298 thousandths behind, are the only ones within three-tenths, with the updated Red Bull of the world champion “spoiling the party” for the two Ferrari drivers.
Completing the top-10 are Russell, a surprising Zhou, Norris, Piastri, Tsunoda, Stroll, and Hamilton.
Ferrari, no bouncing
Another good news for Ferrari is the absence of bouncing, the “bouncing” phenomenon seen in the last three races after updates in Spain: it’s unclear if this is due to the evolved floor brought here in Hungary, announced by Vasseur on Wednesday, or a track less prone to this phenomenon like Budapest.
Even in race pace simulations, Red Bull (Verstappen), Ferrari, and McLaren appeared in the best shape: the feelings for the Maranello team are really positive, after a poor period in the last 4 races.
