Yesterday, Aston Martin’s simulator driver Nick Yelloly took to the track for a filming day in preparation for significant updates scheduled for the Budapest weekend. Meanwhile, Alonso calls Adrian Newey…
After officially announcing the arrival of Enrico Cardile from Ferrari as Chief Technical Officer, Aston Martin is now preparing to tackle the last two race weekends before the summer break at the Hungaroring and Spa-Francorchamps circuits. The goal is to partially turn around a season that has so far fallen well below expectations. In fact, as early as the Silverstone GP, Aston Martin had planned some updates for the following two events.
To this end, the English team, instead of taking advantage of the only “rest” weekend in July, chose to hit the track at Silverstone yesterday with their simulator driver Nick Yelloly for the second “filming day” of the season.
Although there are few photos from this filming day, some updates on the AMR24 are clear, particularly in the area of the floor, where it can be speculated that the Venturi channels at the front have been completely redesigned.
Additionally, near the halo,on the sides of the driver’s cockpit, two flow diverters have appeared, forming a structure very similar to the one present on the Ferrari.
Certainly, this is a significant signal from Aston Martin, indicating their decision to utilize the 200 km of filming day allocation on a highly indicative circuit for performance. This allows for a reliable comparison with the previous version of the car, given that the Silverstone Grand Prix took place less than a week earlier. However, it remains unclear whether these updates have yielded positive results or if they will be used as early as Hungary, but to find out, we’ll surely have to wait for the press conference next Thursday.
Meanwhile, while Nick Yelloly was busy at the Silverstone filming day, Fernando Alonso was engaged at the Goodwood Festival, ready to debut the new Aston Martin Valiant.
“At this great event for Aston Martin, Alonso made important statements regarding the future of Lawrence Stroll’s team in Formula 1: ‘A year and a half ago, I began my journey with Aston Martin, and we have achieved many milestones in such a short period.’ I felt that this couldn’t be the end of our journey; the ambition of this project is simply something else.
At the end, Fernando wanted to drop some hints about the future: “For next year and for 2026, with the regulation change, the team is becoming very strong and attractive. All the best engineers and designers will come to Aston Martin. The future of the team is bright, we are heading in the right direction, and I can’t wait for 2026 to arrive!” concluded the Asturian driver. After hiring Enrico Cardile, could these words be a small spoiler for the arrival of Adrian Newey?
