Sergio Perez will not start from the grid: he will replace the entire engine and start from the pit lane.
“This mistake hurts a lot, especially for my whole team. Tomorrow is a new opportunity and it’s important to never give up,” Sergio Perez commented on his social media following a disastrous qualifying session, which ended with an error in Q1, placing him 19th on the grid.
Perez penalized: starts from the pit
Perez faces another setback: car number 11 will start from the pit lane after a complete power unit change. This complication means he will struggle even more in the early stages of the race, with colder tires compared to those starting from the grid. Given Perez’s recent form, even finishing in the points will be a significant challenge.
