Ollie Bearman is officially a Formula 1 driver for 2025: the Briton has also announced his race number (and the reasons behind the choice).

Pride, satisfaction, and a sense of achievement: Ollie Bearman has realized his dream, and he admitted it in an interview. “I will have the chance to do the job of my dreams, and unfortunately, not many people can say that,” said the Briton in one of his first statements as a Formula 1 driver.

His fantastic debut with Ferrari in Jeddah was crucial for his move to F1: his Formula 2 season has not been particularly convincing, partly due to Prema struggling with the new regulations. Both he and Kimi Antonelli have been facing difficulties this season: the Sprint win in Austria seems like a flash in the pan, and the prospects for this weekend are not very high either.

Bearman chooses his number: he will race with 87.

Now let’s move on to more “bureaucratic” matters: with the official announcement on Haas’s website, the Briton had to reveal his race number. He chose the number 87, for reasons related to his family, as this was the number his father used when he raced.

But why 87? he explanation is simple: the two Bearman brothers, Ollie and Thomas (younger than him), were born on the 8th and 7th, respectively. Hence the choice of the number: a value passed down from father to son, which will now debut in Formula 1 starting in 2025.
