Charles Leclerc will inaugurate the passage of the Olympic torch through the Principality!

A hundred years since 1924, Paris is once again ready to host XXXIII edition of the Olympic Games which will be held in the French capital from July 26 to August 11, and the number 16 driver of the Maranello team the last winner of the Monaco Grand Prix, will have the honor of being first torchbearer of the Olympic flame during its passage through the Principality. The young Monegasque will thus be the second Formula 1 driver to have the privilege of carrying the Olympic torch relay (before him, only Lewis Hamilton had this honor at the XXX Olympiad held in London in 2012).

The Olympic flame

The torch, symbol of peace, hope, and unity among countries, is the means by which the Olympic flame is transported during the relay that carries from the lighting place (Athens, the capital of the Olympic Games) to the place of Olympic celebration where it is then lit by the last torchbearer, the cauldron, whose flame burns throughout the duration of the games and is extinguished only at the end of the closing ceremony.

Day, times, and route of the Olympic flame

Leclerc will inaugurate the passage of the torch in his country on June 18th at 14:15 from Port Hercule, he will then cross the historic center in the hands Alexandra Coletti, who in turn will pass it to the table tennis player Xiaoxin Yang, and then to the bobsledder Rudy Rinaldi, ending with Prince Albert II and Princess Charlene who will conclude the torch relay through Monaco at Casino Square around 14:45.
