These are crucial days for the evolution of the MotoGP Rider Market: Jorge Martin is close to securing the official Ducati seat, thus leaving Bastianini… And Marquez…
Intense moments in MotoGP following the Le Mans Grand Prix (here are the race results): the paddock is buzzing with rumors, with some riders looking to change teams and others seeking opportunities for the next year. Let’s take a look at all the situations, from the most challenging (such as the rumors about the Martin-Bastianini-Marquez trio) to the official announcements already made for 2025.
Fermin Aldeguer – Ducati
Let’s start with the only certainty in the transfer market: Fermin Aldeguer will move up to MotoGP next year, riding for Ducati. If the renewal with Pramac goes through, it’s highly likely that the 2005-born rider will move to Paolo Campinoti’s team, taking over Jorge Martin’s seat.
Jorge Martin – Ducati
Let’s get straight to the point, for he is the linchpin of the MotoGP rider market: the Jorge Martin situation could be resolved very soon. Martin has been clear: “Either the official Ducati team, or I’m leaving”… and so, barring any surprises, it will be: the Borgo Panigale team absolutely doesn’t want to let the Madrid phenomenon slip away, which is why they’re heading towards the Martin-Bagnaia duo in 2025, leaving Enea Bastianini out in the cold.
Enea Bastianini – Ducati/Aprilia
Conditioned by that serious injury at the beginning of 2023, the Beast struggled a lot to get into shape, unlike this strong start to 2024. The hopes of staying in Ducati aren’t too many: however, Aprilia is interested in the Rimini native, as they are looking for an Italian profile on which to build the future. Bastianini would join Maverick Vinales, replacing Aleix Espargarò (for whom retirement from MotoGP is not ruled out).
Marc Marquez – Ducati/KTM
The other big dilemma is opened by the one who, just on Sunday, opened up more about his future: “I don’t care about the brand or color of the bike, I want the latest evolution for 2025.” A very clear message: it will either be Pramac (if he stays with Ducati), or Marquez will do everything to get on the KTM, even though Brad Binder still has a contract with the Austrian brand. Alternatives? None at the moment: the only feasible option, therefore, seems to be Pramac.
Pedro Acosta – KTM
Let’s not forget about the “Rookie Maravilla”, the 2004-born rider who is thrilling the most nostalgic fans of motorcycle racing with his aggressive riding style and outspoken personality. For him, the move to the official KTM team in 2025 is already almost confirmed: he will replace Jack Miller, who is desperately seeking a seat in Honda to remain in MotoGP.
Alex Marquez – Ducati
The one left without a teammate will be Alex Marquez: with his brother leaving Gresini (and Alex confirmed for 2025), the Faenza team will have to find a replacement for the eight-time world champion as soon as possible. Many names are currently on the notebook, but none prevail over the others.
Marco Bezzecchi – Ducati/Aprilia
A last note is on Marco Bezzecchi: the Italian shouldn’t move from the VR46 Team, but in case of a failed agreement with Bastianini, a small opening could emerge towards Aprilia. The “Bez” would be welcomed by Massimo Rivola, given his young age and a stellar 2023, but it remains more of a feasible option only if his fellow Ducati rider were to reject the Noale team.
