Wonderful spectacle at the Autodromo Enzo and Dino Ferrari on May 19: Sebastian Vettel at Imola will drive the McLaren MP4/8, Ayrton Senna’s last winning car
They never knew each other, Sebastian Vettel and Ayrton Senna. Yet during the upcoming Grand Prix of Emilia Romagna and Made In Italy (more briefly known as the Imola GP), Vettel will drive Ayrton Senna’s McLaren MP4/8, winner of the 1993 Monaco GP and Adelaide GP, the last career victory for the Brazilian.
He will do so on May 19, the day of the Imola race, before the F1 start.
A unique occasion, then, for all those who will be at the Imola Grand Prix that weekend: a moment of incredible emotion for all those present, still shaken by the accident that changed Formula 1 forever even thirty years after the Brazilian’s passing.
An opportunity, too, both to show everyone the recent merchandise launched by Sebastian Vettel On the occasion of the 30th anniversary of Senna’s passing, both to continue his campaign “Race Without Trace”, dedicated to the awareness of environmentally sustainable fuel zero-emissions that Formula 1 will use starting in 2030, in its Net-Zero Carbon program.
Sebastian Vettel’s words
“Ayrton Senna was not only a driver I greatly appreciated because he was one of the best things ever seen in Formula 1, but also a man of great compassion,” Sebastian Vettel said on his social channels. “It has been 30 years since his accident and I would like to pay tribute to Ayrton. I will be at Imola for the Grand Prix to drive his car, the McLaren MP4/8: I hope to see you all on Sunday the 19th, Forever Senna!”
