Benoit: “I think Mick answered about Schumacher’s health”

by Stefano Zambroni

Roger Benoit, former F1 journalist and close friend of Michael Schumacher, explained how Mick actually told us how his father is doing…

Since December 29, 2013, little or nothing is known about Michael Schumacher. That skiing accident in Meribel drastically changed the life not only of the seven-time world champion, but also of the whole family, always very close in the Kaiser’s recovery. The German’s health conditions, however, still give very little hope of seeing Michael again as before, and the very little information that is known is hardly positive.

Roger Benoit, former Formula 1 journalist and great friend of the Ferrari legend, told German newspaper Blick: “No, I don’t know how Michael is. But the answer to this question was given by his son Mick, two years ago. ‘I would give anything to talk to dad’: this sentence says a lot about how he is after 3500 days from the accident … it’s a hopeless case,” Benoit concluded.

This was one of the very few times in which Mick has publicly spoken about his father’s accident: in fact, the confidentiality with which the family treats and protects Michael remains very high.

What his wife Corinna said

Michael’s wife, Corinna Betsch, also revealed a small detail about the documentary dedicated to Schumacher’s life and produced by Netflix: “Michael is there. True, it’s different, but it’s there.” Words, therefore, that once again do not give great hope for the future.
